Setting Defaults



It is possible to set the values that a Test Run contains as the defaults for that session of TETware. Once the defaults are set it is then possible to set the configuration values for another Test Run to those values.

It should be noted that setting the defaults for a Test Run is handled in different ways, depending upon whether you try to set the defaults via the "Config" menu or via a right-click on a node in the Test Run.

Save as default settings


If the "Save as default settings" menu item is chosen from the "Config" menu then TETware will:
  • Set ALL the configuration values in the main configuration (all tabs related to the "Configuration" tree node) as the defaults, this means that any values that are set as blank in the tabs will be saved as blank.
  • Set ALL the configuration values in the local system as the defaults, again this means that any values that are set as blank in the tabs will be saved as blank.
It should be noted that if any remote systems have been added to the Test Run then they will NOT have their values saved as the defaults. This is due to the fact that to set the defaults for another Test Run that does not any remote systems would not make any sense in terms of remote systems. If you wish to set the defaults for a remote system please see below.

Revert to default settings


If the "Revert to default settings" menu item is chosen from the "Config" menu then TETware will:
  • Set the currently Active Test Runs main configuration to the saved defaults.
  • Set the currently Active Test Runs local system configuration to the saved defaults.
It should be noted that if there are any remote systems present in the Test Run then the configuration values associated with that remote system will NOT be set.

Save as default settings


It is also possible to set the defaults for a Test Run via the right-click menus on the various tree nodes. It should be noted that when the defaults are set via the right-click menus then only the configuration associated with that tree node will be set as the defaults. The configuration that you can set the defaults for via the right-click menus are:
  • The "Configuration" node, this will set the main configuration values for a Test Run as the defaults.
  • The "local system" node, this will set the local systems values for a Test Run as the defaults.
  • The "remote system" node, this will set the associated remote systems values as the defaults.


Revert to default settings

If the "Revert to default settings" menu item is chosen from a right-hand menu then the configuration values associated with that tree node will be set to the saved defaults.

 

Important notes


Please note that if no defaults have not saved and the User chooses to set the defaults (regardless of origin) then the configuration values will be set to blank, there are NO built in default values coded into TETware defaults.
