Browsing Journal Files

 

Journal files for executed Test Runs


If a Test Run has been executed and a Journal file created by TETware then that Journal file can be viewed by clicking on the Journal node . The Journal file will be parsed and placed into the "Journal Text" area. This behavior is automatic.

Browsing other journal files


It is possible to also browse other journal files that are present in the file system. To do this right-click on the Journal node and click the "Browse Journal file" menu item. A file selection dialog will then be displayed. The User can then browse the file system until they find the file they wish to view. Clicking "Open" will select the file.

Please note: this method of browsing a Journal file will NOT set the that file to be the Journal file for the Test Run.

If the Test Run already has a Journal file associated with it then when the Journal node is clicked again then the Journal file will be re-displayed.

Notes on the size of Journal file


Due to the potentially large size of Journal files for a Test Run there are limits on the size of file that can be displayed:
  • If the Journal file is greater than 2MB in size it will not be displayed.
  • If the Java Interpreter does not have enough memory to hold the entire journal file in memory it will not be displayed.
If either of the previous conditions are met then the Journal file to big to display dialog box will be displayed.
